Why Did the early settlers move to Canada?
In the middle of the 1700s, France and England had already had several wars with with each other. The two countries hadn’t liked each other when they both were in Europe long before they fought to control North America. The two countries would try to control other parts in the world just to prove they were greater than the other. For a century, England and France competed over North America. Although, they both had a common goal; They both wanted to expand north america. Some parts of canada, changed hands several times. By 1750, there were at least 70,000 French people living along the St. Lawrence. French fur traders had also explored the land and claimed area for France. They built forts and trading posts to mark their territory. All of the two million English Settlers wanted more land to build new settlement.
How did the Beothuk people feel when the early settlers arrived?
The Beothuk people think of the Early Settlers as not understable newcomers. They don’t get why they arrive every spring but do not stay very long. When the Beothuk people leave their equipment on some else’s land it means that they are leaving it as a gift or no longer want it. The Beothuk say that when the Early Settlers have left their equipment on our land and seem like they are offering a gift. But when the Beothuk take what is left on their land, they shoot at the beothuk using their weapons. They say that there is more than enough resources for the Early Settlers and that they should be willing to share. The Beothuk Hunters are noticing that they are building houses and staying all year. The Hunters are worried that there will not be enough food for their family because they are hunting on their land.

The First Nations peoples were not happy when the early settlers arrived to Canada. This was because the early settlers stole fruits and vegetables from the first nation’s crops causing the first nations people to dislike the first nations.Also the early settlers took up a lot of space causing the first nations to struggle to find land to live on. But in trade the early settlers taught the first nations about fur-trade. The early settlers lived in groups called tribes. The first group of early settlers arrived in Canada about five hundred fifty years ago. They were not that friendly when they had arrived. The French settlers brought our second language. As more settlers arrived they brought more and more goods to trade with the first nations (which made the first nations happier).The French introduced long distance fur trade such as the Rideau Canal which the Italian and Irish helped build.
